An interactive map of botched SWAT and paramilitary police raids

frequency decoder

Here’s two unbelievably depressing links: An interactive map of botched SWAT and paramilitary police raids and a video of one of these heavy-handed SWAT raids in action. # ~ (1) 06·05·10

Italian Spiderman Trailer

Great article from a snappy development blog… # ~ (0) 19·03·10

Last Minutes with ODEN

frequency decoder

People, do not watch this video if you have a dog, if you have ever had a dog or if you ever plan on having a dog. This is powerful, heartbreaking stuff. I remember crying for a week when Bessie died (yeah, yeah, she was called Bessie) – in front of an entire room full of work colleagues from Oracle to boot! Dogs tend to do things like that to you… # ~ (0) 10·02·10

Mashup #1

frequency decoder

What a mashup – ‘promesas’ by los mono with ‘intergalactic’ by beastie boys! # ~ (0) 26·01·10

Uttarayan Kite Festival

frequency decoder

I’m getting itchy feet. I haven’t “travelled” in almost seven years and long for even a few months of walking Indian trails once again – flickr photostreams like the Uttarayan Kite Festival by the meanest Indian aren’t helping to calm my roving instinct any!

I remember being amazed at the kite festival and buying a kite for one of the children who had decided to accompany me that day – the kite is cheap, it’s the string that costs money. I also remember… actually, I could go on all day so I just won’t start, just check the photos)! # ~ (0) 25·01·10

jsFiddle

frequency decoder

One for the bookmarks… jsFiddle – an online editor for the web. It supports all major Javascript libraries out there, has snazzy syntax highlighting within the code editor(s) and looks dam nice to boot. Nice work from Piotr & Oskar. # ~ (0) 21·01·10

Flash Runtime in Javascript

frequency decoder

Beautiful & Scary stuff… Tobias Schneider has built a Flash runtime in Javascript – codenamed “Gordon” (as in “Flash Gordon”). I just love Javascript hackers! This really is an exciting time to develop for the web. # ~ (0) 14·01·10

Teux Deux

frequency decoder

Really nice to-do app over at teuxdeux.com. Very sleak, minimal interface (and a great introduction video – full of humour). I like it a lot. # ~ (0) 11·12·09

Browser Detection in Javascript Libraries

frequency decoder

Robert Accettura has delved into the subject of how various JS libraries detect the browser (and supported browser features). I was surprised to find so much user agent sniffing going on… # ~ (0) 02·12·09

How to Detect Font-Smoothing Using JavaScript

frequency decoder

useragentman has come up with a neat trick (using canvas) that can detect if font-smoothing is activated – How to Detect Font-Smoothing Using JavaScript. # ~ (0) 30·11·09

Chroma-Hash

frequency decoder

Mattt Thompson’s Chroma-Hash demo is novel (although security concerns remain)… and no, the word Hash in the title does not refer to drugs! # ~ (0) 05·11·09

Underscore.js

frequency decoder

Underscore is a utility-belt library for JavaScript that provides a lot of the functional programming support that you would expect in Prototype.js (or Ruby), but without extending any of the built-in JavaScript objects. It’s the tie to go along with jQuery’s tux. # ~ (0) 02·11·09

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon
